Brunch In The A

Brunch! If you’ve been in Atlanta long enough, then you know we take our Sunday Funday’s very serious and nothing kicks off the ultimate Sunday Funday like brunch. Honestly, finding and exploring all the different brunch spots in a foodie’s dream city, like Atlanta, is an extreme sport all by itself.  Luckily, I’ve been here long enough to have done enough of the leg work for you.  Here are my top 5 brunch spots in Atlanta…in my humble opinion.

Breakfast at Barney's

I hate to be cliché and hop on one of the hottest new spots in town, but let’s face it – it wouldn’t be hot if they food wasn’t absolutely amazing.  The menu here does not disappoint from the classic southern dishes like chicken and waffles aptly named Yard Bird to the traditional steak and eggs, BAB does not skim on portion or service.  Now because it’s such a hot spot be prepared for a wait.  And while they don’t do reservations, they have the option to put your name on their waitlist AND the bar is first come first serve, so if you can manage to slide into a couple of seats, you won’t regret it.  The ambiance hints at contemporary influences, but balanced out by the choice of rich colors in the seating, you’ll find yourself there longer than you may have intended! Enjoy it!

Taverna

This spot is perfect for a budget friendly boozy brunch setting. Known for their bottomless mimosas it’s definitely a spot to start your Sunday Funday and if the weather is amazing you’ve hit the jackpot … twice! With the option to enjoy their covered seating, you can’t go wrong with options.  Should you happen to be celebrating a special occasion, they do have a larger table that is separated by curtains to give you and your guests some privacy.  Now! For the important factor… the food! Their brunch menu includes all the typical fixings that a brunch spot entails – you will have your choice of a classic egg, potato’s, and bacon dish or eggs benedict.  If you are feeling a bit more famished, they have an amazing dish called the Taverna Hash that gives you a combination that will surely keep you filled until dinner time – you won’t be disappointed. either way

BQE

Would brunch in Atlanta be the same if you didn’t have the option of a hookah and some trap music bangin through a speaker? Highly doubtful. LOL In typical ATL fashion this spot, perfectly nestled between The Beltline and Midtown gives its guests the option of live music earlier in the day, then later transitions to a DJ.  While the space can be cramped (it’s definitely best to get a reservation) their infamous red velvet waffles and chicken wings makes it well worth the wait.  A classic southern dish, this establishment kicks it up a notch by making their waffles even more decadent by using red velvet cake batter. This is the perfect spot to have a cute turn up with a group of friends.

Mojave

This restaurant is located OTP and is the perfect spot for morning mixed drinks as well as the more traditional mimosa.  The ambiance is both family friendly and a great gathering spot for friends.  The one caveat with this particular place is that they won’t refill your mimosa until the glass is completely empty.  While I understand this from a business stand point, it takes away from the experience.  The food here is absolutely amazing.  They will also serve their lunch menu as well, in case you’re not in the mood for a breakfast dish their brisket sandwich is absolutely amazing.  The portions are also filling and well worth the price.

Two Urban Licks

Perfect brunch atmosphere all year round at this uniquely named restaurant on Atlanta’s thriving Beltline.  If you love people watching you’re perfectly positioned at Two Urban Licks patio.  Whether you planned to eat brunch here or you work up an appetite while exploring, this restaurant won’t disappoint.  The fan favorite bacon, egg, and cheese biscuit sandwich is sure to fill up the hungriest appetite.  Now, for my favorite part of any brunch – the booze. They have a seasonally served froze that is the perfect addition to any brunch dish, but they also offer ever changing mixed cocktails during the colder seasons.

Here are some additional brunch spots that deserve an honorable mention:
