FASHION FORWARD: Shopping With a Cause
The Luxe List Atlanta rolled out its red carpet for a one-of-a-kind shopping affair to highlight Anne Fontaine’s Atlanta boutique. While such shopping extravaganzas aren’t new for the brand, this one was a bit different.
None other than Anne Fontaine, the designer behind the chic women's wear, was in attendance. She spilled the tea on her latest collection, showcasing her personal favorites, all while proudly chatting about the global success of her namesake brand, which has over 50 boutiques from Paris to New York. Fontaine dazzled in an emerald green skirt set, featuring a dreamy floor-length drape detail. She later disclosed that she had interchanged the 'Egerie Blouse' and 'Night Pant' from her collection to create the look, leaving everyone in awe of her unique style.
Attendees were also encouraged to dress in their favorite Anne Fontaine pieces and explore the latest Fall/Winter collection. In just 4 hours, the Atlanta boutique generated $53,000 in sales volume; whereas 10% was donated to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
The hospital's unique mission is to never charge families for treatment, travel, housing, or food, allowing them to focus solely on their child's well-being. They later celebrated at St. Jude's Evening of Hope charity gala.
2023 Fall/Winter Collection
This season's collection embodies the spirit of the 1920s, taking inspiration from the glamorous era during which Josephine Baker captivated the stages of Paris. Similar to the fashion trends of that era, it boasts intricate lace patterns and embroidery curated by Anne Fontaine. True to form, this collection offers a fresh take on the classic white T-shirt, just like all the others before it. It also features tulle and adorned collars to enhance the overall look, with a particular focus on the neckline.
“Josephine has a very nice heart, both outside and inside. I played with colors, as you can see, incorporating prints in blue, gold, pink, and leopard. I’m always making clothes feminine. I work like couture, with mannequins, and then shape all the flowers myself,” Fontaine recalls.
In the collection, you’ll notice the "Scarlett" handbags adorned with her signature 3D floral design. These handbags are crafted with premium lamb and cow skin leather, whereas the garments are fashioned from vegan leather.
All in all, this particular body of work is a stunning display of elegance and a tribute to a legendary performer, paying homage to the timeless beauty of the Casino de Paris, where the late Josephine Baker once sashayed center stage.
About Anne Fontaine
Anne Fontaine is a globally renowned luxury fashion brand celebrated for its timeless elegance and commitment to sustainable luxury. With a rich history dating back to 1994, the brand is synonymous with sophisticated and beautifully crafted women's clothing, particularly renowned for its iconic white blouses. The story goes that Fontaine's husband, Ari Zlotkin, showed her his grandmother's attic, where they stumbled upon a collection of white shirts.
This served as the inspiration for Anne to create an updated design for the timeless white shirt. The Zlotkin family, who had been in the textile industry since the 1950s, previously produced men's shirts for leading couture players before transitioning to the retail sector.
With the rise of cheaper manufacturing options in Eastern Europe and China, the family business struggled to stay afloat. However, Fontaine's innovative take on the white shirt, still featured in most of her collections, sparked a revival. The Zlotkin family business now serves as the parent company of the Anne Fontaine fashion house.
Her designs seamlessly blend classic Parisian chic with modern sensibilities, offering a range of ready-to-wear collections, accessories, and fragrances that exude femininity and grace. What sets the brand apart is its dedication to eco-conscious practices, using sustainable materials and ethical production methods to create fashion that is both exquisite and environmentally responsible. Anne Fontaine continues to be a beacon of style, quality, and sustainability in the world of luxury fashion.
